09 Jan Futsal is Back
Futsal is back at the Canadian Corporate Soccer League (CCSL) after a 3-year hiatus. The CCSL is returning to the roots of the game by introducing two divisions this upcoming winter. One in Coed and one in regular competition. The new divisions will feature a shortened 10-week mini-season for a very low introductory price of $995 (+tx). “Its about time we return to some of the roots of playing this fast paced game,” said Albert Zbily, president of the CCSL.
Futsal is played on a gym floor and contrary to popular belief, is less harmful on the joints as compared to playing on a turf field, according to the Italian Federation of Futsal Sala. Futsal is played on a rubber floor, which is specifically designed to better absorb shock within the joints. The field used will be located in a newly constructed gym within a private school in Montreal close to a metro access. The new gym features a full 35 metre long playing surface, offering a full sphere of the playing field according to international standards.
“This new division will allow our teams to better understand the importance of the 5v5 game and prepare themselves to future editions of the World Corporate Champions Cup,” said Albert in reference to FIFCO’s annual 5v5 world tournament.
CCSL will test out this return to Futsal and work towards building a more competitive division in the coming seasons. Registration is now open and available for teams to sign up – season starts the week of 11 november
