03 Feb All-Female Corporate Soccer – Are we ready?
Montreal (CA) – Playing soccer with friends is a fantastic way to strengthen social connections within a group. The concept of an all-female league is relatively new for the Canadian Corporate Soccer League (CCSL), with the inaugural division launching in 2021 and steadily expanding since then.
While gathering all-female teams from a single company is one challenge, finding eight companies that meet the same criteria is quite another. The CCSL is preparing for the 2025 FIFCO World Corporate Champions Cup, which will introduce an all-corporate female competition for the first time. “We face a significant challenge in recruiting corporate teams with enough female players to compete on an international stage,” stated Albert Zbily, president of the CCSL.
“Playing together is a wonderful experience that allows us to play at our own pace, rather than competing with the guys on a coed team,” shared Diana from the Ruby Rebels team during the winter women’s competition. “We all grew up loving this game, and now it’s about finding enough women from one company to compete globally,” she added.
The CCSL is the official Canadian representative of the International Federation of Corporate Football (FIFCO) and has announced that the upcoming World Corporate Champions Cup will include an all-female competition in the 5v5 format. “Soccer in Canada has made tremendous strides, especially for women. We take pride in our players, no matter where they play, and they all have jobs somewhere,” remarked Amélie, who plays every Friday night at the Concordia dome this winter.
The CCSL is committed to expanding this segment of the league and aims to establish a strong Canadian presence at the World Corporate Champions Cup in October 2025. To join the women’s league, sign up for the upcoming summer season.
